Commissions are done between scheduled gallery exhibitions. Many times, clients ask me to do a pastel of their beach house to take to their year-round home. I try to approach the commissions just like my personal artwork by finding the kind of light and time of day that is the most appealling. I like to know which direction the front faces, and what time of day the light would be best.
Ideally, I would like to be the one to take the photographs from which to work, but I have worked from others' photos. I also have had fun working with someone's great travel photos to capture the esssence of a memorable trip.
